    1. Hi Kieran, the line is an Airflo forty plus six weight floating line. I also have the forty plus intermediate, sink 5 and sink 7 but the nicest line to throw and fish is the clear intermediate.

    1. The line in the video is a Rio A.F.S 37ft 9wt shooting head floating head and i have the A.F.S Hover, intermadiate and Sink 4 lines as well. I have used skagit lines on my T & T 9wt and also on the Switch rod and they are good lines to fish with in a tight spot. Will have to try out some more Skagit lines to find the perfect line for both rods because matching the right line makes casting easier on both you and the rod.

  4. hi paul, most of the salmon i catch is on the blackwater around fermoy is on the prawn as the water is too deep and slow to fly fish, most of the salmon lies are behind bolders and rocks 8 to 14 feet deep.however i will take a few day tickets on ian powells waters around may time when the fish hopefully should be around in some numbers.i would love to catch a salmon on the fly and was thinking in purchasing a 10/11 foot switch rod. i was wondering if you could point me in the right direction! i was looking at reds fly shop.com and for a eleven foot tfo deer creek rod, reel and line came in at around 400 euros. any suggestions? regards kieran.

  5. Hi Kieran, the only information i can give you is to touch, feel or if you can try out the rod you are going to buy. Buying something by looking at a catalogue or picture might not be a good idea. I have tried a lot of switch rods and most are small salmon summer rods not switch rods, they can only overhead cast with two hands and are quite stiff blanks so you will only be able to use them for one purpose where as a proper switch rod can be used for trout and then if needs be salmon spey casting with the proper line.
